Inverawe Smokehouses. Inverawe Smokehouses was established in 1980 by Robert & Rosie Campbell-Preston to create and supply quality smoked fish to high end, independent trade outlets and direct to consumer via their mail order channel. Now in to its second generation, with their son Patrick driving the business forward, the business is growing and developing without compromising any of its original ethos.

Artisan Smokehouse. Situated on the beautiful banks of the River Awe in Argyll, the smokehouse follows the slowly does it doctrine. Time, salt and proper oak smoke are all that’s needed here. Our purpose built kilns allow the fires to burn oak-logs, not wood chips favoured by the vast majority of smokeries these days. Oak logs give a cooler, cleaner smoke, it takes longer to penetrate the fish but the results speak for themselves. The logs burn 24hrs a day and it can take anything up to 48 hrs to smoke a side of salmon. Nothing is rushed the fish are allowed to gently take up the smoke in their own unhurried time. The art is to know instinctively when a side is ready. Robert has passed all his knowledge onto Patrick and he is committed to continue this rare, time and labour intensive craft because he knows the final product is so much more , smokier, silky-smooth and bursting with flavour, than that which is massed produced and widely available to all.

Award Winning Range. The smokery range includes classic Scottish Smoked Trout and Salmon, Smoked Cod’s Roe, Eel, Halibut and Hot Smoked salmon. Added value products such as our fish pates, terrines, canapes and potted varieties are also hugely popular. Our natural and organic lines are widely regarded as “the best on the market” wining Supreme Champion at the International Food Exhibition and are the first choice for the larger “organic flag ship retailers” such as Daylesford Organics.

Mail Order Gourmet Gifts & Hampers. Inverawe also boasts a thriving mail order service where customers can order direct from the smokery and have their favourites delivered to themselves, friends, family or colleagues and clients. The finest smoked foods are teamed with similarly crafted delicacies from other like- minded producers, Hams, Stiltons, freshly baked cakes and sauces to name but a few. Making our range of gifts and hampers a delicious and varied option.

Trade and Export. All our smokery items are available to all independent delicatessen, fine food outlets, farm shops and top-niche restaurants and hotels. Our client list boasts: Chatsworth Farm Shop, American Express, Roast, Tigerlilly of Edinburgh, The Orient Express and Hebridean Princess and of course, Her Majesty The Queen, as they have proudly held the Royal Warrant since 2002. We are also making our way internationally with Inverawe Smoked Salmon now being sent weekly to far flung Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Bogota!
